Program og innhold
This investor briefing introduces an initiative co-created by investors and experts who advocate for responsible decision-making in defence-related investments. The initiative proposes the development of a set of principles to help investors identify, assess and manage the risks associated with investing in defence-related companies.
Rising geopolitical tensions and escalating conflicts have driven a significant increase in global defence spending, with private capital investment in defence-related sectors growing sharply in 2024. At the same time, technological advances – including AI-enabled systems, autonomous weapons and cybersecurity – are blurring traditional boundaries between defence and technology companies. These developments create complex challenges for investors, particularly in relation to risk management and human rights impacts.
In response, the Concept Note proposes the Principles for Responsible Defence Investment. These principles aim to provide practical guidance for investors across asset classes, support enhanced human rights due diligence, and help mitigate the evolving risks associated with defence-related investments.
